This beautiful Kansas City Winter Engagement will melt your heart, but probably not all the snow. 🙂 When I met Jason and Mary Ellen last fall, they asked if I’d be willing to shoot their engagement photos in the snow. After I did a little happy dance, I said absolutely! I’ve been wanting to shoot in the snow for a while, but the last few winters in Kansas City haven’t had much snow. We agreed to be on call for snow and hope that the weather and our schedules all cooperated. Conveniently, January arrived and the first big snow of the year happened to fall on a weekend!
The three of us decided to get some indoor shots at Union Station first and then head outside to play in the snow. The lawn between the Liberty Memorial and Union station was the perfect location. The snow was actively falling and no one was around. A perfect blanket of untouched snow gave us beautiful photos for this winter engagement session in Kansas City.
On a photography related note, I learned a lot about shooting in the snow. My best advice is to get a few plastic covers for your camera, I use these covers and they’re great. Keep a lens hood on your camera and also bring a cloth to dry your lens off occasionally.
I’m thrilled with these photos and the results are almost enough to get me to like winter. 🙂
